Public Examinations Advice
Please refer below for information regarding public exams and adverse weather:
•Morning examinations commence at 9am and afternoon examinations at 1.30pm. Students are expected to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the published start time
•A candidate will be considered very late if they arrive more than one hour after the awarding body's published start time for an examination which lasts one hour or more i.e after 10am for a morning examination or after 2.30pm for an afternoon examination. If an examination lasts less than one hour a candidate will be considered very late if they arrive after the awarding body's published finish time for the examination.
•If the main school is closed due to adverse weather public examinations will still go ahead as per JCQ regulations. If a student is unable to get to school safely to sit the examination he/she will not be able to retake the module until the following summer with the exception of GCSE English and Maths. Examination boards will not allow papers to be taken at a later date in the series.
COLLECTION OF EXAMINATION CERTIFICATES
Summer 2022 GCSE and A Level certificates will be handed out at Awards Evening on the 14th December 2022.
Uncollected certificates from previous years are held in school and are available for collection from the examinations office. You are welcome to collect the certificates in person during school hours. You may delegate someone to collect them on your behalf. Please note that you must provide written permission for them to do so. Please email Dr Luppi in the Examinations Office in advance so that the certificates can be located and left in reception: leanne.luppi@tbshs.org.
If you would like to have your certificates posted by recorded delivery please write to Dr Luppi enclosing a cheque for £2.50 made payable to ‘The Bishops' Stortford High School’. Please ensure you also provide the correct mailing address.
Uncollected certificates will be destroyed after 5 years.

The exam contingency date for the summer 2022 exams is Wednesday 29th June. All students must be available to sit exams up to and including this date. Therefore please ensure that any holidays are booked after 29th June.
