Cover Supervisor/Learning Support Assistant

Pay scale H4 - actual salary £15,999

Required from September 2018

Educating 1200 students, The Bishop’s Stortford High School provides a single-sex education for boys in Years 7 to 11 and has a large, thriving co-educational sixth form, with over one hundred girls on roll. Last year our students achieved 84% 5 A*-C (Inc. English & Maths) at GCSE and 55% A*-B at A-Level. We have a strong ethos, based on high expectations and standards for all, a committed and supportive staff who deliver high quality, engaging lessons and well-behaved students with excellent attitudes to learning.

We were graded Outstanding in every category by Ofsted in March 2017.

We are seeking to appoint a dedicated, dynamic and conscientious colleague. The appointed person would spend half their time as a Cover Supervisor and half as a Leaning Support Assistant.

The Cover Supervision role involves the supervision of classes undertaking work set by absent teachers. This would be across a range of different subjects and would require a calm, consistent approach to classroom management, to ensure the school’s high standards of behaviour and engagement are maintained.

Leaning Support Assistants work as part of the SEND team who are committed to going the extra mile to help make a real difference to the students in our care. This important position involves supporting learning for students with a variety of individual needs across a wide range of subjects, in a range of settings, including the sports field, with one-to-one, small group and whole-class support.

For this role applicants must be well-organised, have a good level of literacy and numeracy and a willingness to be pro-active. Effective communication skills is essential.

An application form and further details are immediately available from the Headteacher’s P.A. Mrs D. Landers, debbie.landers@tbshs.org, or downloadable from the school website:  www.tbshs.org

TBSHS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the safety and welfare of all our children and expects staff to share this commitment. A Disclosure Barring Service check is required for all successful applicants.
