Required for September 2017

Full or Part Time, Main Pay Scale

Educating 1160 students, The Bishop’s Stortford High School provides a single-sex education for boys in Years 7 to 11 and has a large, thriving co-educational sixth form of 350+ students, including 110 girls. Last year our students achieved 80% 5+ A*-C (inc. English & Maths), with a significantly positive Progress 8 score at GCSE and 58% A*-B at A-Level, with a significantly positive value added score. We have a strong ethos, based on high expectations and standards for all, a committed and supportive staff who deliver high quality, engaging lessons and well-behaved students with excellent attitudes to learning.

We were graded Outstanding in every category by Ofsted in March 2017.

Following a recent promotion, we are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, engaging teacher of Drama to join our vibrant department. Drama plays a major part in the life of the school, with an annual school musical, House Drama competition and many curriculum based performance evenings. The successful candidate will need to be an excellent teacher, with a desire and ability to teach both GCSE Drama and A-Level Theatre Studies and willing to contribute to the extensive extra-curricular programme. The department of 2 are well supported by a technician and also, in preparation for the school musical, by staff in other departments with music, choreography and set design.

This post could equally suit a newly qualified teacher, or someone with more experience, looking to join an ambitious department.

An application form and further details are immediately available from the Headteacher’s PA, Mrs Debbie Landers, debbie.landers@tbshs.org or downloadable from the website www.tbshs.org.

TBSHS is committed to safeguarding and promoting the safety and welfare of all our children and expects staff to share this commitment. A Disclosure Barring Service check is required for all successful applicants.

Closing date: Monday 12 June 2017 at midday.
