Teacher of Drama

MPS/UPS + London Fringe Allowance

Required for two terms, January – July 2021 - Full time

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated, engaging teacher of Drama to join our vibrant department. Drama plays a major part in the life of the school, with an annual school musical, House Drama competition and many curriculum based performance evenings. The successful candidate will need to be an excellent teacher, with a desire and ability to teach both GCSE Drama and A-Level Theatre Studies and willing to contribute to the extensive extra-curricular programme. The department of 2 are well supported by a technician and also by staff in other departments with music, choreography and set design.

This post could equally suit a newly qualified teacher, or someone with more experience, looking to join an ambitious department.

Educating 1200 students, The Bishop’s Stortford High School provides a single-sex education for boys in Years 7 to 11 and has a large, thriving co-educational sixth form, with over one hundred girls on roll. Last year 89% of our GCSE students achieved grade 4+ in both English and Maths, contributing to a Progress 8 score of +0.16, compared to a national average for boys of -0.28. At A-Level we had a 55% A* - B pass rate in 2019. We have a strong ethos, based on high expectations and standards for all, a committed and supportive staff who deliver high quality, engaging lessons and well-behaved students with excellent attitudes to learning.

We were graded Outstanding in every category by Ofsted in March 2017.

An application form and further details are immediately available from the Headteacher’s PA, Mrs Debbie Landers, debbie.landers@tbshs.org or downloadable from the website www.tbshs.org.
