Students enter a new stage of their school career in Middle School. The ethos is one of Respect.
Students respect themselves; by valuing their learning, taking an active role in extra activities and beginning to work independently.
They respect others; by celebrating everyone's achievement, taking time to mentor fellow tutees and acting considerately at every opportunity.
Finally, they respect the community; by cooperation as directed in the code of conduct, actively engaging in clubs and extra-curricular activities, and contributing to Student Voice through the Council and regular mentoring with their tutor.
The emphasis is now firmly on academic excellence; with year Nine students making their all important choice of subjects to study at GCSE as well as taking their first ICT exams. For year Ten, coursework and modular exams take place throughout the year.
Tutors are dedicated to overseeing all progress, pastoral as well as academic and with their wealth of experience, their advice is invaluable in ensuring all students realise their potential. Students will also work on their Personal Achievement Record. This is a portfolio that they complete which documents their progress, best work and extra-curricular efforts.
From making sound Option choices to improving public speaking, achieving excellent exam results to representing the school in sport, music and drama, Middle School is a time of rich development that lays the foundation of progress into Upper School.
